THE ANNEX TORONTO

Location: Dupont St. south to College St. between Christie St. & Avenue Rd.

Rent Toronto Perfect For: Students, Young Professionals, Toronto Roommates, and anyone who wants loads of rental options, close to a subway station, grocery store, banks, liquor/beer store restaurants and shops.

Hood Brief: The Annex (in Toronto) is a hip, affluent residential community and a home to many University of Toronto students who want to live close to campus.

There are many amazing restaurants, pubs and cafes in the area. Highlights include the many sushi joints along Bloor St. between Spadina and Bathurst, Futures café and Paupers Pub.

There are also some theatres, art galleries and shopping, most remarkably the Toronto landmark, Honest Ed’s. Seaton Village, the Korean Business Area (aka Koreatown or Little Korea) and Christie Pitts are three neighbourhoods just west of the Annex (Toronto) and are often considered the “West Annex” and share many comparable characteristics to the Annex including the attractiveness to U of T students.

Little Korea runs along Bloor Street West between Bathurst and Christie and is full of Korean shops stocking exotic herbs, acupuncture centres, Internet cafés and Korean restaurants.

QUEEN STREET WEST TORONTO

Location: Queen Street West between Spadina Ave. and Dufferin St.

Hood Brief: Queen Street West (in Toronto), which encompasses the Trinity Bellwoods park, in the beginning was associated with the Goth revival that hit Toronto during the early 1990’s. ST. LAWRENCE MARKET TORONTO

Location: Front St. south to the railway tracks between Yonge Street East to Parliament St.

Toronto Rentals Perfect For: Students, Toronto Roommates.

Hood Brief: St. Lawrence Market (in Toronto) offers two popular theatres -- The Hummingbird Centre and St. Lawrence Centre, the St. Lawrence Market Toronto and plethora of dance clubs, galleries, restaurants, churches and over 80 historical buildings. A fairly new residential neighbourhood, it's a bold attempt to recreate Toronto's 19th century ambience. The structures are low and the streets are short. The Esplanade off of Yonge St., is a main street lined with restaurants, cafés and hotels that run through the middle of the area.

LITTLE ITALY TORONTO

Location: College Street south to Dundas St. between Bathurst St. and Ossington St.

Hood Brief: Little Italy (in Toronto), sometimes referred to as College Street West or College and Clinton, is one of the several Italian Canadian neighbourhoods in Toronto, and is the best known in Toronto. Little Italy is a chic and trendy neighborhood that is centred on a restaurant/bar/shopping strip along College Street, the heart of which being the intersection of College and Clinton Streets. The sidewalks are typically jammed on weekends – especially in the summer, with locals and visitors sipping espressos on outdoor patios. While historically an Italian neighbourhood, today Little Italy’s population is ethnically diverse with a larger Portuguese population than Italians. Little Italy has also become quite popular with younger crowds because of its pulsating nightlife and its closeness to the core downtown. Since the 1980s, many young professionals have been buying homes in the neighbourhood.
